Taiwan Matters

The installation is a series of six objects with different unfamiliar undulated surfaces that are abstracted from the topographical relief of the island of Taiwan, at the same time being carved, bulged at their section according to their given functions and relations with the human body. The juxtaposition of familiar and unfamiliar shapes invites an intimate yet amusing experience of the body.

The pieces with sitting boxes could be moved to change their spatial constellation, creating different uses---ranging from exhibition to public forum, classroom, or a protest event’s stage. Echoing the 72nd General Assembly of the United Nations and the annual UN for Taiwan March, the portable installation was featured with a series of different events at Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza, Foley Square, and Time Square.
