CC Residence
CC Residence is a renovation project that explores how affordable materials and simple yet creative spatial strategies can shape functional, flexible homes. Designed for a couple and their child within a limited budget, it serves as a model for how the methodology can be applied to homes for young families, couples, or professionals to meet their everyday needs.
The design employs a restrained material palette—stained birch plywood and stainless-steel sheets—while retaining existing flooring, bathrooms, and plumbing to optimise costs. An open-plan living area and a communal dining table accommodates different modes of play and daily activities, while an integrated home office supports remote work. Carefully planned cabinetry and closet systems provide storage without clutter, and tatami flooring in the bedrooms introduces warmth and intimacy.
More than just circulation, the staircase serves as a central connector, linking sleep, work, and daily life. Natural and artificial light interplay within the stairwell, reinforcing a sense of spatial continuity.
